The term "gigbag" is about a wide and elusive term as any. A "gigbag" ranges from the $20 garbage some stores throw in as "case included" up to the stellar Mono and Reunion Blues cases that are time-tested monuments of durability and protection. The latter are priced high, like their quality.
FWIW, I own two Mono cases (both electric cases, a single and a double), and have zero qualms about their ability to protect my guitars in most situations. Likewise, I have seen many other very good cases from Gator to Taylor's "hard bags" and these are, IMHO, quality protection that exchanges a measure of a HSC's structural protection for lighter weight and convenience ...sometimes you just gotta have backpack straps! A
good gigbag or "hard bag" is an investment in protecting a valuable instrument and should be considered carefully considering what it will be carrying
