Surprised by "The One"
« on: March 04, 2016, 05:01:58 PM »
So yesterday I'm in my favorite store. Not that unusual and I'm happy they don't lock the door when they see me coming. I proceeded to do a marathon try everything I can in a short amount of time thing. Been leaning heavy on the 600's as a new guitar. Played the 610e they just got in. Didn't do it for me like the 610ce I played before. Knew it would sell fast. Played at least a dozen yesterday and happened to pick up a 322e 12 fret SEB. Felt just like I was home, playing my hog mini. Fantastic tone, and playability. When I start singing I know I'm in the zone.
This morning I put two guitars on Craigslist, and a couple of Facebook pages. Will be listing my 312ce on here soon.
This 322 is Sapele and I might hold off to try the new blackwood. Roadshow is coming up in 2 weeks at that store. Maybe they will have one by then.

I would.  The new Mahogany/Blackwood 322 really sounds great.  I've been to two separate "New For 2016/Find Your Fit" events in the past couple of weeks and the dealer's Taylor rep. brought a 2016 322 12-fret to both.

AZ, a lot of blackwood looks and sounds much like koa, in my limited experience.  I'd definitely hold out until you can test drive one.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
