D'Addario String Winder being manufactured again
« on: September 23, 2015, 06:37:00 PM »
Taylor has a video showing how to change strings using a D'Addario String Winder. The model was manufactured then discontinued more than once but is back again as a Blue Glow-in-the-Dark model (the previous one was a Green Glow-in-the-Dark winder). You can read more about the Blue Glow one here if you wish:

And here is a Youtube video featuring the winder. What makes it so versatile is that it can be paired up with a cordless screwdriver to make string changes quick and easy.

If you want to order one, Amazon US has a few in stock right now:

Love that radioactive blue!  FYI, that blue is the real color of radioactive glow in a water-cooled nuclear reactor.  It is always depicted as green on TV and in the movies, but it is exactly this shade of neon blue in water.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

I too liked the color and thought it was fascinating so I bought one...err...two. :-[  ;D

I also have the green one--not that I'm a fan of green, but when I was a kid, my dad bought me a game called 'Green Ghost.' It had playing pieces that glowed in the dark with that greenish color. The green one reminds me of the fun times with that game. :)

I use one of these winders with a Black & Decker cordless driver for my string changes. At least I don't dread doing string changes anymore. ;)
