very nice video review of the 714 vintage burst
« on: April 21, 2012, 03:18:11 PM »
http://www.themusiczoo.com/product/11959/Taylor-714ce-Western-Red-Cedar-AcousticElectric-Guitar-Vintage-Sunburst/

these have had my eye since they came out-i love the lack of abalone and the whole vibe-plus i "need" and cedar/EIR combo(don't we all)!

i really dig the GS size these days, any of you out there pick one of these models up-if so, your thoughts after having it around for a while.

sorry if this is a repeat-haven't had time to hang out on the forums since feb.

thanks

The 700's used to be bland and boring. Now they're just about the sexiest guitars coming out of El Cajon...

The 714CE is actually a Grand Auditorium size, not GS.
But, good review none the less by someone who can pick
very well .

I have a 714ce and I really like the warm sound the cedar top gives.  It offers great sustain with lots of volume.  Since getting the 2011 714ce my 514 and 814 don't get as much play, I usually pick this one up first.  Love the feel the neck has, I also like the fact that it does not have a lot of bling, the 2012s look very nice with the burst top, but I prefer the dark binding.

If I had to buy any stock Taylor right now, without hesitation, it would be a 712ce...

yep, we own some x14 and x16 size taylors in the family. i prefer the GS(x16) size myself. i should have worded my entry a little more clear. in this style offering, i would prefer the x16 size.

so, anyone out there got one of these in the x16 size?

In general I love the RW/cedar combo. I don't own a 7xx but I want one in any GA/GS flavor. Definitly at the top of my "future Taylors" list. Doesn't have to be the 2012 version either, I love that "gold top" cedar look against the RW color.  And of course the tone is crazy good!

Music Zoo really ought to get their terminology correct:  a "Grand Concert Auditorium Sized" guitar???  Which is it?
As a 714, we know it to be a grand auditorium.  Why the term "concert" is throughout the description is beyond me.
Nice review though and beautiful sounding guitar.

Just traded my 314ce in on the 714 ce vintage burst

My 714 has an Engleman spruce top instead of cedar as I already have
A cedar top GS7

I'm a thumbpicker and really appreciate the volumn and clarity  the 714
Gives me on the treble strings I finger pick

I'll probably put the GS up for sale now
