Congrats MartinD you have a keeper!

Now you have to decide what your next Taylor will be  :).

Isn't that the truth? There should be a warning label on your first Taylor. WARNING: Taylor guitars will multiply like rabbits.  ;D

Sapele can be a very boring wood, visually speaking. This is one of the more interesting pieces of Sapele I've seen.
Totally agree with you, Nomad!

Good buy. I have the same model and I have no intention of ever selling it.

Tonewise the 314ce is one of my favorite Taylor models at any price and perhaps the 3-series is the best value in the entire Taylor line!  Congrats!!

Very nice! Hope to be getting one of these or a 414ce one day as well.

Here's a link to another one with very interesting Sapele...

You're correct...that Sapele does have some nice figure.  I normally see Sapele with a drapery rod straightness.  The hourglass shape of that one mimics the curves of...guitars.

Boring wood?  Who cares when it sounds like this:

I remember the day when straight, narrow grain was the holy grail!  Now I'm showing my age.  I'm just saying tastes have changed (out of necessity due to a lack of "old growth" wood)... but I do like figured wood as well.
