Yes, the petting zoo portion is definitely a "zoo" be prepared for some elbows.  I generally go to watch and learn more about the guitars and woods and such - any type of actual playing is out of the question.  It's noisy, crowded, hectic, and there's always someone who thinks alternate tunings are a good idea in this type of setting.  Listen for the Black Crowes or Led Zeppelin riff......LOL

I just admire the BTO's and listen to the techs - one of them is going to think I am stalking them as I've seen them 3 times now at three different places in 2 states.....I just missed them in a fourth location last week...... :o

Wayne Johnson and I had two people follow us from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Regina, Seskatchawan. Look at a map; that's a seven hour drive, with virtually nothing between the two cities except a straight, flat Trans-Canada Highway...

Now there are a couple Taylor enthusiasts for ya, I hope they bought some guitars.

I've only attended one Road Show, two years ago.  It is about a 2 hour drive, but the closest to my area.  I was going to go last year, but I never seen the event scheduled (?).

Anyway, I went 2 years ago thinking I might come home with one nice guitar, but I did not.  There were way too many people playing all syles of music which is good, but as stated before, it can be hard to hear the guitar(s).  Being able to gain some knowledge about Taylor and to be able to hear demostrations was valuable to me.  A very enjoyable event and I look to go to another one day.

Oh, arriving early and playing a guitar was not possible at our event.  The doors were locaked keeping everyone outside until about 15 minutes before start time.

Yeah, this happens on occasion. The store usually feels that they need to do this so they can get set up properly for the event. Their intentions are good, but short-sighted...

So here's my very brief review of the event ..... A+++!!!  JR and a great player named Cory were our Taylor reps.  There were approximately 25 folks in attendance.  We started with an educational session which explained the differences and nuances between the different sizes and body shapes of the guitars followed by a session that explained the different kinds of woods used to make Taylor guitars and what that element brings to the guitars.  Really really fascinating - I drug wifey with me (who is not a player) and she even loved it.  Petting Zoo was next - about a half hour of playing all the pieces of art that they brought.  Last segment were demos of the Taylor T5 and the Taylor electrics - both went way over my head (I'm a total novice) but fun anyway.  Wifey and I both got t-shirts as give aways, really cool although we both got size large and I'm an XL and she's a medium - they'll look good on someone.

What did I learn?  I still love Taylors, the Grand Concert size is what I probably need and there's nothing prettier than the Koa.

Great job Team Taylor!

Cory Witt is a monster guitar player. I've got his CD around here somewhere. It was in the rotation for a long time...

Just got a postcard inviting me to Harry's Guitar Shop (Raleigh, NC) for the 2012 Road Show. Monday, May 21 @ 7:00 pm. I'm scheduled to work that evening (cough, cough, cough). Sure sucks that I'm gonna miss (cough, cough, cough) the show.  ;)

The Taylor folks will love Harry's and the area known as Glenwood South. Some great bars (Hibernian Irish Pub), a really nice downtown destination.  ;D

Attended a roadshow last night in the North East of England; had a great time. This was my second roadshow and was much busier than the last one I went to. The petting zoo at this one was a 'zoo', but I managed to play some really nice guitars (even if I couldn't hear what they were like) tried a 12 string and was surprised how easy it was to play. Had gone there with some thoughts of buying a GS Mini, but the store only had one in stock (spruce top) and weren't offering any deals, so decided to wait until I could try a 'hog' top.
My only problem with going to roadshows, is that it would be so easy to empty the bank account  :)
