Band Photoshoot

Our country band has our first professional photoshoot today and it was a BLAST!!!  It was fun to be creative and do something different for a change.  We didn't have a single hiccup during the whole shoot.  I will have to post some pics soon and see what everyone thinks.

Some brick walls, but NO railroad tracks!!  We did some middle of the road shots, a cool rock shot, a stucco wall shot, a cool old building shot, the requisite field shot!!  You have to be extremely creative or live somewhere totally unique to not do what most others have done!!!!

They are total clichés as band backdrops.

Don't believe in them and don't want to ever use them.  If you can't find and shoot it in real life, then I don't believe in faking it!!

Don't have a copy, but once did a shoot wading a creek w/guitars held over our heads. Drummer was behind us w/his drums laid out on the bank and his hands in the air.
It was a local creek, famous for parties. The creek was Boggy Holler(hollow), and the band was "The Boggy Holler Boogie Boys".
Cheesie? Of course. Effective? Of course!

I will preface this by saying that some of the language used on the linked site in the article might be deemed "flowery" or "salty". But, it certainly explains the brick wall. It used to do the same for train tracks, but I haven't gone deep enough into lately to know if there are any examples currently shown.

What tends to make for a yucky, embarrassing band photo? Certain qualities surface over and over.

First off, any fashion statement from the 1980s is a culprit. It's hard to look cool in parachute pants and Japanese headbands.

Second to clothing/hairstyle atrocities is the setting. If a band really wants to telegraph a lack of creativity, then all it has to do is take a photo in front of a brick wall or walking on a set of train tracks.[/b]

There are just certain things you just don't do. For band photos, brick walls and train tracks are two of them...
