it would simply be nice to see more modify a model options for the 3 and 4 series guitars like sunburst options and top swap options for cedar or englemann or possibly even tuner and nut/saddle upgrades... and maybe do a darker stain on the ovangkol guitars if possible... love it as a tonewood but the lighter brown finish it has on the back and sides and neck just isn't as nice looking as a darker finish (although i've seen some taylor ovangkol guitars that are darker but i don't know if it's because they've "tanned" or if there was a different finish used on them at a certain point in their production history)

...if I had to pick one option choice to make a guitar from the above wish list to mass produce though it would be a 400 series with cedar top and tobacco sunburst finish and darker stain on back and sides and neck

simple appointments, great tonewoods, looks nice but not too flashy

+1. I'd like to see gloss 3xx and 4xx series ALL with the newer fret dots (elongated ones), a nicer rosette--either wood or simple abalone, some type of burst tops, and gold hardware.

In reference to your comment about darker ovangkol, mine is darker, and the sides have a golden shimmer. I like the darker ovangkol, too! :)

Something with Myrtlewood would be nice but I cant seem to find a series that it could replace other than maybe the 700 series and its been updated nicely recently so, I guess it would need to be an ltd.

Ovangkol can definitely be a pretty wood, but I thought that adding a clear gloss finish to any wood is going to make the grain pop and the wood darken overall...

I would also like a slope shoulder dred.  I would want it with mahogany and spruce, a burst finish and a slotted headstock, no cutaway, 14 fret neck with 1 3/4 nut width and short scale.

That would be sweet!

Tom

I would like to start with an 814ce and give it the body the depth of a dread to get more sound out of it. I would put the 900 series Cindy inlays on the fretboard and a nice inlay on the bridge.  Ebony fretboard and bridge, and a nice three piece back made of Indian Rosewood. I would also like the headstock to have a nice inlay and gloss finish. Lastly I would update th Expression System to remove the fuse.

it can, but the process used for the satin finish can, at times, accentuate the figuring of certain woods -
i've noticed this in ovangkol, satinwood & walnut models, as the diffuser used to make the finish 'matte'
may also seem to act as a kind of 'filter' as well, affecting how the light is refracted & reflected, as it is
still transparent, but it's not 'crystal-clear', & the grain-filler & polishing process (on gloss) may have an
effect as well, not the same as a transparent stain/burst, but there could be some 'polarization' in the end
it's not about what you play,
it's all about why you play ...
