Case Question: Grand Auditorium Size
« on: February 18, 2021, 10:41:04 AM »
Just wondering if anyone know what size case I should get for a grand auditorium? The gig bag that came with it is nice, but I’m looking to get a hard case for the added protection. I love in Canada, so I can’t buy the official case from the Taylor website.

Taylor's GA model has the same size lower bout as a dreadnaught (the dread just has a fatter waist than the GA).  So any case that will fit a dread will also fit a GA.  Since the GA has a pinched waist, you'll have a little extra room in the case which you can fill with towels or accessories.

As Dennis correctly said, a GA will fit any normal dreadnought case - mine always did.  My favorite hard case these days is the Hiscox Pro II, and that works on my GA's as well.  https://www.elderly.com/collections/all/products/hiscox-liteflite-pro-ii-dreadnought-small-f-guitar-case

The heavier Artist series is flight-worthy and used by many touring pro's.  Given an option I would choose the ivory color, both to make it stand out better among dark cases and to reflect heat better in the sun.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Lots of retailers sell the Taylor GA case. Just Google it...  or call Sweetwater, Sam Ash, etc.

Here is one on Sweetwater:

I would get the proper Taylor case if you can.  Someone in Canada probably sells it too.

Best on this

Thanks for the replies everyone. I went ahead and picked up an affordable dreadnought sized case after testing it for fit. It’s almost a perfect fit. Once the border opens up I may look into getting the official Taylor case if needed.

Can't a Canadian dealer order a case for you? Long & McQuade is pretty much everywhere up there, aren't they?

You could go to "Reverb" and probably find one.  They seem to always have one.  Then have it shipped to Canada.
