Some bling for the new 714ce (V-class)
« on: January 20, 2019, 03:39:34 PM »
It seems Taylor has upped it’s game on the 700 series in recent years. That’s certainly true for my new V-class - Lutz top, Koa binding, Douglas Fir rosette, pearl peghead inlays. But the TRC was just black plastic.

No more. Ordered this custom TRC from Scott at WEC Inlays. Great product and customer service. He’s in Canada. I’m in Oklahoma. But communication was fast and easy. He got this done quickly and it arrived in my mailbox just seven days after shipping.

Oklahoma, of course, was once “Indian Territory”. There is much deserved respect for Native Americans in our culture. So the image I wanted was Kokopelli, mythical Hopi symbol of such things as music, dance, and mischief. As you can see, Scott produced a beauty.

That's a beauty, Roy! I'll have to remember WEC. They do beautiful work. Enjoy your kokopelli!

Very nice.  Look at it every time you open your case.  Maybe it will inspire you to do even greater things.

Nice Rev.  That is an excellent addition to a great guitar.

I don;t normally adorn or customize my guitars (changing things like tuner buttons) but I have considered custom truss rod covers.  That's a nice one and I will have to remember WEC.  Kokopelli has meaning for us, since we were formerly involved in a Native American flute circle, and he was part of our club logo.  And my wife is really into flute playing.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby

Hey Earl, I've gotten into NAF too. I played flute and sax for 7 years in band, thought the flutes would be nice for me. They are fun at festivals too. And yes, love the kokopelli!
