Hi Guys
Life is full of surprises. Less than a month has passed since I bought a new GS Mini Koa FLTD and I'm delighted with it. That addition took the "stable" to five Taylors since taking up the guitar less than two years ago. I was beginning to feel I was pushing the "patient wife" situation a little too much. Anyway, about a week ago I was browsing the world's most efficient wallet emptying website when I came across a "Taylor GA12 Fall 2011 Koa" described as "virtually unplayed" and the attached photos just blew me away. It was lust at first sight. Unsure of how to bring the subject up with my wife I noticed that the auction was ending that day before I would be home to discuss it with her.
Later that evening I told her what I'd seen and showed her the photos emphasising that the auction had ended so "not to worry". She just said "that's a shame, it's a beautiful guitar". With that I pushed it a little further and asked if she minded me enquiring whether it was still available. She said "If you buy it, that's it, no more" and then qualified the statement with "not unless you sell one first". Next day I rang the owner, made an offer subject to inspection and arranged to see it yesterday. A 250 mile round trip in foul weather and dreadful traffic later I am now the proud new owner. It's in faultless condition, still with the original strings and the photos did not do it justice. I wasn't prepared for the sound though. I've never heard such clarity, warmth and whatever it is that ticks the ear boxes with a wide paintbrush. We're all different when it comes to appreciating the sound an acoustic guitar makes, but I was truly speechless. I would love to post photos but technology and I have simply not made friends yet. Then the phone rings and our vet gives us the dreadful news that the test results following a skin tumour removal from our youngest boxer dog "Zac" were not good. It seems the "invasion" is very aggressive and gives the poor lad two to six months. Ups and downs, I suppose.
