Taylor Guitars - Factory Tour and More
« on: September 21, 2013, 01:40:42 AM »
It's a little over 4 years since our last trip to Taylor Guitars in El Cajon, and we've just recently had our second visit. What a fabulous day we had - it was great to see those we'd met the first time around, and to renew our acquaintance with the factory floor, the super accurate machines, the dedicated skilled workforce, the sight of guitars taking shape... it was wonderful.

The extra icing on this particular cake was the opportunity to revisit the room where we were married back in 2009 - full of Taylor guitars encompassing the wide range of shapes, wood combinations and appointments. We were invited to play however many guitars we wished... oh, how wonderful! Two guitars in particular had us spellbound - a Cocobolo Presentation Series 912CE and a Cocobolo Presentation Series 914CE, and no, neither of them are coming home with us to the UK.

Our abiding memory will be of the warmth and generosity we were shown - we feel very much a part of the Taylor family.

Jimmy and Val, I didn't know y'all got married at the Taylor factory. Did I read that correctly? How cool is that !!! Maybe one day I'll make it that far west for a visit. Great story and glad y'all had a good time.

Hi CodeBlue

Yep, we were indeed married at the Taylor factory, 12 August 2009. Our 'Hello and Welcome' post on joining the forum has our whole Taylor journey in it (including the wedding, if you manage to read that far through... it's a VERY long post).

We were there in the fall of 2006. It was a fun RV trip for us, which included a visit to Taylor Guitars. It's definitely a great place to visit, if you have an interest in Taylor and/or are a part of the Taylor family. I give you a lot of credit for finding/playing two Taylors you loved, and having the self control to walk away.  ;D

ya know, i've been to San Diego 5 times so far this year, at least one more trip coming before year's end. i have yet to make it to the Taylor factory. busy busy schedule for a mostly retired person. sad that i can't even get enough playing time, let alone a few hours to go check out Bob's "home".

Maybe we can make you feel guilty enough to pay them a visit.
Seriously, though, you would love/enjoy your time there.

Probably more financial constraint than self control... We would have really liked to take at least one of them home for Val (probably the 914), but can't quite bring ourselves to lay out that amount of $$$/£££ until we've sold the Cocobolo Custom Jumbo that is looking for a good home.
