Jerry's Breakdown
« on: September 17, 2013, 02:16:00 PM »
I'm hoping that everyone has at least some familiarity with Jerry's Breakdown!  Very tough finger style tune.  I have just started to learn this from a Youtube (just put 'Jerry's breakdown lesson' in the search field) video done  by a very competent Italian fellow who goes through it note for note in about 45 minutes.  The thing is, it is TOUGH.  I am curious if anyone here has mastered it starting from a state of complete naivete about this tune.  Two things I would recommend:  1) use a metronome and don't increase the rate until you can play a particular part with NO mistakes.  Start at about 60/min.  2)Have tab or music staff paper ready, because you will never be able to play the song without some recordation of the notes he feeds you on the video.
There are actually two guitar parts, but the one he shows you is THE tune.  Check out Chet and Jerry Reed doing it.  Chet's part is the secondary part.
Gimme some feedback!

Jerry and Chet rendition is too much fun. Will check out the lesson thing-a-ma-bob and get back with you.
