Gravity Picks
« on: February 16, 2013, 11:16:12 AM »
Have you ever tried Gravity Guitar Picks? I have mainly been using Dunlop .71mm Gator picks (the purple ones) for about the past year or so. Before that I was using Dava Control picks. I also use a variety of other picks from time to time, but my go-to pick is the purple go-to pick. The pick I don't like is the green Dunlop pick.

Anyway. today I got a couple of Gravity picks in the mail and I really like them, so I thought I's spread the news...

I got one 1.1mm and one .75mm Classic pick. I prefer the lighter gauge pick, but these are both really nice picks. They are comfortable to hold, have a nice combination of flex and stiffness, and they produce a nice, mellow sound. Plus you don't hear the sound of the pick on the strings. They are a bit pricey, so you don't want to lose them or leave them laying around. One of the picks I got is clear, so I really hope I don't set it down someplace where I won't see it. Chris is a nice guy to deal with, and he apparently makes picks according to your preference. I recommend giving them a try if you haven't already. http://www.gravitypicks.com. I think you'll like them.

I've tried them also...I can't remember which one I tried...  ::)  The pick's sound was really nice, but I've been using a .60mm for so long it just felt clunky in my fingers.

Great quality though for sure!

Are they anything like the V-picks? I tried a sample pack of those but they aren't good for me. V-picks are all clear. They sound harsh against the strings. Not natural at all. Of course I am a fleshy finger picker so maybe the change is what I can't get used to.

I received a sample from Chris a while back.  It was the .75mm classic one.  I liked it so much I ordered a couple more.  I was using the Fender medium ones before.  I found the Gravity Picks don't move in my fingers when I strum and I just like the tone they produce against the strings.  I think they are worth a try.

I love Gravity picks! My go to.  Ihave a half dozen so I'm good for awhile. Great tone and I love feel. Strums well sharp attacks or soft. They have terrific customer service

I got a couple of samples a few months ago. I have a 1.1mm Standard Striker, and a 1.5mm XL Striker. I like the XL size better, but think I like the 1.1mm thickness better, but it looks like they don't come sized that way. I also think I'd like to try the Axis.

I ended up getting a Blue Chip pick, so I don't use the Gravity Picks much, but I do like them better than any of my other cheap picks. The ones I have are a little more clicky than I like for strumming, but are nice for flatpicking, and the surface is much grippier than most other cheap picks as well.

Definitely worth checking out.

Contacted Chris a couple of weeks ago and he sent me 2 samples...the .75 Classic and the 1.1 Classic. Havent tried any of the other styles, but I am really liking the Classic...specifically the 1.1. These things glide across the strings (I don't feel like I'm about to dig in and bury it), and ring clear. I too have noticed that grip is good when your fingers get warmed up. About to order some.

I wonder how long they last. I have been using Dunlop .71mm Gator Picks (the purple ones) and I notice that after a while they start wearing out - the point gets flat. I wonder how long this takes to happen to the gravity picks.
