Grand Concert size comparison
« on: September 08, 2021, 09:06:52 PM »
Hello! I currently own a 214ce, which sounds great but is  a bit too heavy and bulky. Also own an urban ash GT, which has a comfortable size and weight but lacks volume and bass. Was wondering if a Grand Concert is a good compromise. Thoughts?

That is my favorite body size, by far. It really depends how you play; I often finger pick and lightly strum, so a grand concert does that wonderfully.

It will have a wider nut than the 214 and the GT.

I particularly love grand concert 12 frets - ultra compact and a dream to play!

2009 xxxv-p - sitka/madagascar
2010 414ce - sitka/ovangkol (made on my wedding day!)

2019 BTO GC 12 fret - cedar/cocobolo
2019 sheeran w03 - cedar/santos rosewood

The best way to see if it is good for you is to play 'em back to back and make your choice.

Love my Grand Concerts, especially my short scale 412e-R, spruce over rosewood, X-braced.

I find it almost too easy to play this guitar, and it produces fantastic sounds. I just have to be careful not to overdrive it.

My other grand concert is a standard scale all mahogany with a cutaway.

Just my thoughts on Grand Concerts, but I have no minis or GTs to compare them to. Just happy with what I've got.

I tend to play fingerstyle and really like the GC size instruments. They likely won't have the same bass as a GA of the same woods, but they make it easy to emphasise the melody playing the way I do, as well as sounding nice all the way around. They do ok for strumming as well, but not as well as the GA. Sounds like it might be just right for you.

This is true.   The only one who can tell you if it's comfortable is you
Play a few and see what works. We're not the ones who are going to have to deal with what feels good to you ...  hahahaha

Enjoy the  search and  have fun checking out a bunch of Bitchin guitars
