Fishman Loudbox 100 Discontinued!

Was at Guitar Center today ready to buy one of these and they're out. Bummer. I had researched it and had decided I like the features, weight, and power rating.  I went to Fishman's website and it says this model has been discontinued (who knows when they actually stopped making them).  I guess the Loudbox Artist Pro has replaced it......?  Guitar Center was out of those, too, but they're backordered and expected around 9 Feb.

The Loudbox 100 is still around, probably, from other sources, but I got a piece of paper from GC today promising me 10% off their discounted prices when I come back to buy an amp.  Maybe I'll go for the Loudbox Artist Pro although it is slightly heavier.  Weight is a major consideration for me, as I have a problematic back which is generally ok if I am careful about what I lift.

Just got my Loudbox Artist ... really like it (so will you -- Jedi mind trick )... I finally hear what a good amp with the Taylor ES can sound like ... if you are going to be moving it a lot and worried about your back, get a very small, lightweight, folding hand truck to cart it to save your back ... good luck ...

I got mine from Sam Ash; they had 2 in boxes and one on display.

I wouldn't think that a 2.5 lb increase in weight would be terribly significant. I see the Artist cabinet is lightly smaller and that its 20% increase in amplifier power didn't yield additional volume. I suppose the added power contributed to better sound instead.

I have a Loudbox Mini and I think it's a great little amp. The Loudbox Artist is getting really great reviews and between those tow models, there probably isn't a need to continue with the older generation of Loudbox amps. I find it interesting that the Loudbox Artist hasnot made it's way to the eBay world yet...

I'm kinda hoping you're right with regard to the slight increaase in weight.  Anyway,  I've been dragging around an older Roland Cube 60 Chorus, which is dying, and which weighs something like 30-32 lbs.  To a lot of people, that is light itself, and it is compared to these 40-60 lb tube-type boat anchors some players move around with.

So, the Artist Pro is lighter than what I've been using, and that was definitely a requirement when I started surveying all the product out there.

Sorry to see the Loudbox 100 discontinued, mine has been a great all around amp. But time and technology marches on.

i was looking at & comparing the features & the cabinet designs
of the loudbox 100, loudbox (250W) & pro (600W) compared to
the mini & artist (the performer 130W still shows as being active) &
to me, their phase-in/out looks similar to what peavey has done in
the past for their acoustic & keyboard amps (features/aesthetics) -
the performer 130W seems to be a good 1/3 more $ than the artist,
granted the amps are not directly comparable, but i would guess that
depending on continuing demand, or lack thereof, it'll be the next to go

the onboard pre-amps (prefix, prefix +, blender & stereo blender)
are long gone as well (Taylor hasn't used them in nearly 8 years),
replaced by the prefix + t, premium blend & onboard aura, so perhaps
as a lot of things are, they felt it was time to re-fresh & redesign them

i'm wondering if there will be a successor to the loudbox pro
1 - 12", 600W & 77 lb ... that sounds like a beast of an acoustic amp

I just want to encourage Go Navy by saying I am very pleased with and enjoying very much the Loudbox Artist I just acquired ... it is a great sounding acoustic amp ... the features are just right for me ... first amp I've had where I could set everything flat (at 0) and be completely satisfied ... minimal adjustments required for higher volume or larger setting ... effects are, again, just right both in quality and type ...

I am finally hearing how good my Taylor guitars can sound plugged in ...

Thanks Scriptor and everyone.  Yesterday I bit the bullet and ordered  a Loudbox Artist through my local Guitar Center. I was dealing with the Sales Manager because Monday is a really slow day, typically, at such places.  He was very helpful.  It's going to come from their warehouse in----is it Kansas City??  Supposedly they had none in the warehouse even, but expecting a shipment on Feb. 9. 

One of the features I especially like on the Artist, and am anxious to try my ears on, is the dedicated tweeter level control, which now is on the front of the amp.  I'm hoping this will be useful with my jazz guitars if I need to fatten up their sound in this amp.  Maybe I won't....the ears will tell.

I like their return policy, and if for any reason I don't like the amp or if it's too heavy,  I'll probably go back with it and try a Loudbox Mini.
