Well I’ve been trying to play guitar for some 30 years. I get some good times from it. No pro. But I’ve had some nice guitars. Now my only guitar is a true first edition 718e.
Wow. Such an easy to play good guitar.
I like the factory bone nut and saddle. I bought a correct bone nut to lower the action a smidge. Did that all myself.
The Taylor’s flexibility with neck reset is amazing.
This guitar has a burst that is indescribable. The hog neck has a burst on the back. I was floored at first look. Love at first sight. Then I played it. Taylor’s “jumbo”. Wow.
She is a keeper. Perfect fret work. No buzz. Just clean chords and notes that sound unbelievable. It was a limited edition first edition and the next year they hD a whole line of first editions including the 718 so this is a one year edition, factory bone nut and saddle, and perfection in every way.
I also like the 1.75” nut width. My hands are large so it’s an easy player.
The range is noteable as well. Hit it soft to hard and it will ring true. Lots of flexibility.
It is a big guitar. I usually just pick it up for 10 minutes and knock the house down. Hang it up and smile.

Congrats on your 718e, it sounds like a real powerhouse. Sometimes finding the right guitar takes time.
Welcome to the forum!

welcome. glad you found one that speaks to you.

Welcome Sands - those Grand Orchestra rosewood models are definitely something to write home about. Would love to see some pics...

Congratulations on the new 718e. Love the full body(no c ) look, it has a cool traditional style.

Thanks all!
A frontal pic should be attached. Note how the burst fades and grows based on the light. It’s a bit over exaggerated by the light but that’s what it does. In regular light the lighter portion appears small. Then you pick up deep red browns that come alive.

Gorgeous guitar - thanks for sharing!

Thanks Taylor Girl. :)
I just cannot fathom how it was done. I’m 50 years old, and I’ve never seen anything quite like it at least not on a flat surface. Curves sure, you can get a color flop. On this, the light plays with the burst. Lots of bursts I’ve owned (mainly strats and P basses).
It had to be intentional, I would think. I’d love to congratulate whoever did the finish design and work on this guitar. It is magnificent.

Really nice guitar but what year is that? It is my personal opinion that Taylor does the nicest bursts in guitarland. Some of the older 614s with the "quilted maple" are truly stunning as well. Enjoy!

From what I recollect, Taylor introduced their jumbo in 2013 with this guitar. I've got all the case candy of course. Not exactly a relic, but looks and sounds super nice.

I agree with SDTaylorman. Taylor makes the best looking bursts, IMHO. I'm generally not a burst fan. I like to see the natural wood grains. That being said, I've fallen in love with some of Taylor's bursts. They are classy, beautiful and not cheap looking. I have the most conservative burst they do on my K24ce, the shaded edgeburst.
