I am primarily a vocalist. I am a pretty much still a novice guitarist, and was interested in bettering my guitar skills. I had an inexpensive Alvarez, but a few years ago my soon-to-be-wife bought me a Taylor 414ce! Shortly afterwards, due to a series of unfortunate events, I was unable to practice much, and just recently picked up my Taylor again. However, the poly finish on the head stock and neck was peeling, even though I took really good care of it. So Taylor had me send back the neck and they refinished the neck and did a full maintenance on it as part of the warranty. :) I also had them switch out the old amplification system (ES1) with the new ES2 since they had redesigned it.
I found UTGF during this process and just now am getting around to logging in and looking forward to learning more about my Taylor and playing the guitar. So glad a forum like this exists.

Welcome CB!
I too am a vocalist who took up the guitar a long time ago in order to accompany myself and to begin to compose my own music. So glad that Taylor addressed your finish issues - they have a great reputation for true customer service.
You'll find a lot of useful info on this forum. We're here to help. Enjoy your 414ce and your stay with us!

Thanks! You know, I never thought I would really work beyond the voice musically, but I've been challenged to do so, so here we go...When I played that 414ce for the first time, the action and sound was a dream to me after the guitar that I owned. :D Since you've been doing this, any thoughts on an amp for acoustic and voice?

Sounds great! And I couldn't believe how great and easy to work with Taylor was. They even called me to let me know the status, etc. Good to be here.

Unfortunately I don't. All the venues I perform in have their own PA systems, which besides working well with vocals also work well with the ES system. I've heard that the Bose L systems work well with singer/guitarists - easy to transport as well. Play on!
