Title: String recommendation

For a GS Mini hog. I know this is subjective, but I would like to try something other than the Elixir coated strings. I would like to stay with mediums also. Anyone willing to give me their opinions? Thanks in advance.

I really liked the sound of the EJ-17 D’addario but they really don’t last long enough for me. Haven’t experimented too much since then.

It is always a trade-off.  Coated strings last longer but cost more.  Uncoated strings get dead sooner.

I've had good luck with GHS White Bronze which are 52% nickel alloy (note:  not Bright Bronze).  They sound about three days old at first, but stay that way for many weeks for me.  I have been using them as long life strings way before Elixir and other coated strings were on the market.  I first tried them because the nickel alloy worked with a magnetic pickup, but discovered that they last a long time.  They come in light gauge and medium gauge, and I use both on various guitars, including the GS Mini mahogany that we used to have.. 

I recently discovered they also have a twelve gauge set, but you have to buy those through the GHS on-line store -- most vendors don't stock the twelve string sets.
