Well I've been on somewhat of a tuner journey over the past view years.
I had an original Snark that I loved but over the course of years it broke. I then tried a Korg sound hole tuner which wasn't bad but it was hard to use. Next I tried D'Addario Eclipse tuner but for some reason it had a hard time tuning certain strings and the display wasn't the best.
I decided in the end that the Snark was one of the best ones I had used and bought the ST-2 Super Tight model. It arrived in the mail and is just as good if not slightly better than the first Snark I ever purchased.
It's really accurate and the display is nice and bright. It feels like meeting an old friend again. ;D
Definitely give the Snark a try if you're looking for a tuner!

I second that. One of my older Snark tuners (red, all instrument tuner) broke at the prongs holding the clip and arm. I contacted Snark and they promptly sent a replacement. Major props for customer service! The new one happened to be a Super Tight version, and I've come to like it better than the regular models, especially for alternate tunings.

It's all I use anymore.

I used to love Snarks, but I stopped using them because they kept breaking in my gig bag. I switched to a PolyTune Clip that's much more durable, and a bit more accurate. Is there anything about the new Snarks that's less fragile than the previous generation?

Not really - same basic case design, just better electronics. I'm in the habit of turning the clip and body into one flatter plane before stowing in my gig bag accessory pockets, and that seems to help. Given their price point, I don't get too excited if a Snark dies from time to time.

The new D'addario NS Micro Headstock Tuner looks like a good one. Sits low which is a plus for me.
However, I still use my old Snark. BTW, has anyone tried their picks?
They're pretty good.

After a couple of my Snark SN-2's broke, I repurposed them for my dulcimers. :) I lay the tuner part on top of my mountain dulcimer and it works great. I have 4 dulcimers, so I had to "break" a couple more ;), so I'd have one for each dulcimer. For a dulcimer, it works better than clamping it to the headstock or to a tuner button (for scroll heads).

I use the Black and Blue Snarks ...whatever goes for less dough at any given moment. They are so cheap, offer great tuning stability, and totally usable accuracy that it's a no-brainer for me. Sure a couple have broken at the joint ...weak spot in the design, IMHO. But two broken over maybe 5+ years is completely acceptable for me given their low price and utter utility. I've got several around the house and in gig bags ...great must-have items laying around, like pics :)

Hate to be Snarky, but I prefer the PolyTune clip-on. Pricey but accurate

I use the StroboClip HD (and the iStroboSoft on the iPhone). I love the accuracy and the sweetened tunings, particularly on a 12 string

I am a big fan of Snark tuners, I must have three or four of them scattered around in ukulele cases, on my music stand, etc. So I bought one right away for my guitar as well.
-
Been through a ton of tuners. The most accurate for me are the Peterson Stroboclip HD and the Polytune. Unfortunately, the former is really slow from pushing the button to when I can tune, and the latter is less than perfect in the sun. So recently been going back to the Snark Super Tight. Close enough, especially live.
Of course, the GS Mini has the ES-B with built in tuner. So one less thing to carry.

I have a couple of the micro tuners. I bought them strictly for their size, I just don't like the look of headstock tuners. On most guitars, I can put it on the back of the headstock and you really see very little from the front of the guitar. I don't know about accuracy, but it certainly gets me close enough and I always teak my own tuning a bit anyway. I do not they got a lot of bad reviews based on breakage....but mine have been fine so far.

I've used Snarks for a few years now and, apart from having to re-glue one of the rubber grip pads, I don't have a bad word to say about them. Great display, particularly the black super-tight model. As has already been mentioned, the price-point is good as well.
One of my Christmas gifts this year was a Peterson Stroboclip and my experience, so far, is that it is excellent. Of course, we're talking a different price range to the Snarks but if you want to get within a tenth of 1 cent of each note (and your tuning machines will allow it) this is the one for you. I do a bit of recording, so accuracy is important, but I also play along to Band-in-a-Box generated backing tracks. I find the sweetened acoustic tuning on the Stroboclip very pleasing to the ear.

I may be the only old school guy in the bunch. I still love my A440 tuning fork - it's all I really need, and I rarely need to use it as my Taylors stay in tune 99% of the time. I can still hear that A note in my head, so even when the fork is not with me, I can typically tune a guitar to pitch pretty quickly (assuming decent intonation) - not bad for an old man.....

I have gotten away from the clip on tuners. I always was finding mine to go through batteries like crazy or I would loose them. I also have one very nice guitar that wound up with a mark on the headstock from a clip on tuner so that did it for me and I will never go back to one. However, I use this one by Korg now and I love how large the screen is on it. It is a Korg and is about the size of a deck of playing cards but only about half as thick.

Do you plug it in or use acoustically? I have a Sabine tuner from 1995 that still works, but I use Intellitouch clup-ons.

Both, it has an external mic or if you need to plug it in it works that way too. I like it because of the large screen and it has a couple of differnt ways to display the tuning screen like strobe or standard style and one more. It really neat. I have one yamaha syle clip tuners and it is not bad on the finishes with its soft pads but I still only use this Korg one and I really love it.

When I first started playing guitar a couple of years ago, I continued to use the Korg microphone tuner that had faithfully served me for decades playing brass instruments. But it was immediately apparent that resonance from the neighboring strings and other background noise would cause disturbances and make the process take longer than it should. Earlier this year I finally tried a Snark for the first time, and I'm hooked! Since I use it on vibration mode, no longer do I have extraneous sounds wreaking havoc on the measurements. I'm sure there are more accurate devices out there, but for my purposes this is more than good enough.

I really dig these little guys from D'Addario.
SORRY - Just noticed I had already replied to this thread. But here's a photo anyway.

Been thru many tuners also. My latest was a Strobe tuner from Peterson. Takes a long time to engage before you can tune, and you have to hold the button down for a long time to turn it off. Minor annoyances, but .... also the display is too “fussy”. Just not to my liking.
I bought a Super Snark last week and find it to be perfect in every way. I’ll just need to be careful not to stress the ball joints.
