Title: Taylor and R. Taylor Neck Profiles
Post by: cjd-player on January 19, 2012, 08:03:39 PM
Do Taylor and R Taylor guitars have the same neck profiles?

For example, is a standard carve the same size and shape on both?
Is a slim carve the same size and shape on both?

I can't tell a difference between the standard R. Taylor neck profile and the standard Taylor neck profile.

Take that for how much it's worth...  :-X

Yessir, I can't tell the diff between either.  So my "official answer" from the peanut gallery is the standard carve on both regular Taylors and R.Taylors are the same dimensions.

As for the "slim carve," I own a Taylor with a slim carve, but never felt an RT slim carve, so can't speak to differences there.  FWIW, the Taylor's slim carve is a very subtle difference, in fact almost not worth noting unless one is really sensitive/particular about these things.  One can feel it, but it's not as obvious as, say, the varying neck dimensions and carves across Martins, or of Gibsons ...man those vary quite a bit.

I called Taylor customer service and they said there is no difference.  The neck profiles are the same for Taylor and R Taylor guitars.
