Which gauge strings for the Big Baby?? I'm guessing mediums, correct?
-
Actually the Big Baby comes with lights from the factory.
-
yep ... Elixir NanoWeb 80/20 lights
11052 Light .012 .016 .024 .032 .042 .053
hi Joe,
my dad also has a big Baby - he had a Fishman Prefix Pro pick up put in it
with onboard eq, gold Grovers & ebony button with ab dot ebony bridge pins -
it is a great sounding/playing guitar, imho & the 2012 models have an inlaid rosette
if you're looking for a little more bottom end response,
you should be able to use the light-medium set safely
11077 Light-Medium .012 .016 .024 .035 .045 .056
or, you could try the PBs for a little more depth/warmth -
16052 light or 16077 for light-medium (bluegrass) gauges :)

Thanks, guys, after I asked the question, I checked Taylor's site and saw that lights were indeed recommended.

Hi Joe,
The factory doesn't recommend the mediums because of the increased tension these place on the top. That said, they kind of gave me the sideways nod for the medium-lights. I prefer these (Elixir makes medium-lights in both 80/20 and PBs) especially on the smaller-bodied guits for their enhanced bass response. The feel on the treb strings is the same since the GBE are from the light-gauge set, but you simply get more bottom end ...very welcome addition on these little guits, IMHO. May be worth a shot for ya :)
