Went the other day to a brand new Guitar Center facility in Paramus NJ, a consolidation of two separate locations in that town that opened last weekend. Had a staff person take a brand new 914 off the wall; he cautioned me that the G string had some buzz. The intonation in general seemed to be off. I don't understand how GC would knowingly have an imperfect instrument at this price sitting around without resolving the problem either through their own repair department or the Taylor factory. Doesn't speak well for the location!

Unacceptable.
I've never been impressed with GC.

GC would have to be the only instrument dealer on the planet before I would shop there.

Yup. No excuse for this.

Things like this are common at GC. They really don't have any quality control people. Sometimes the sales people are guitar geeks like us and are fussy and do something about it. But I can't imagine any employee being so happy there that unless they are OCD like us they'll go out of their way to make things as they should be. It used to be a great store for good deals, but price wise you can do as well anywhere nowadays.
