As a follow up to my earlier enquiry about this system, I opened it the other day to give it a try but noticed that the clip that holds the pack over the strings in the sound hole is missing... or is it? Did I get a box without the clip? wanted to ask if this was the case before I take it back to the guitar store... seems strange that it would be missing the clip yet the box only mentions 3 humidipacks and 2 holders (1 for headstock and 1 for the soundhole)... another question is that the soundhole holder is supposed to hold 2 packs but there is no way that that will fit between the strings... am I missing something or should I look for a different brand/system?

Difficult to say from your description which Humidipak version you got. The older style did not have a 'dowel-and-clip' single pouch that holds two of the Humidipaks inside the sound hole; instead it had (what I call) saddlebags -- two joined pouches that straddled all of the strings. The older saddlebag design was better for acoustic guitars, I think.
If you have the newer version (two separate pouches as opposed to a single pouch with a 'saddlebag' pouch), it sounds like it didn't get packed properly with all of the necessary bits. If you still want to give the Humidipak system a try (and it does work well), you'll need to exchange the one you have for one that's fully equipped. The 'dowel-and-clip' pouch will go down through the strings, but you might have to spread them a bit in order to get it to pass down into the sound hole.

Simon, it sounds like you were given an incomplete package. That said, you can now get them without the "clip" in the old style. I just signed on to start a thread on the subject.

May be worth an exchange?
