Title: Case choices for Grand Orchestra ?
Post by: Dopaminer on May 22, 2016, 07:53:31 AM
Greetings all,

I am the ecstatic parent of a new 818 Japan Limited Cocobolo.  The Taylor case is its usual high quality and higher weight, and the jumbo soft gig bag I have holds the GO, but I really want something light AND protective.  There are a lot of light, `semi-hard` cases here, but the biggest one is cut for the traditional jumbo shape, not the GO shape.  I was wondering if anyone out there has found a semi-hard case that will hold the GO . . .

In advance, thanks!

I have a friend who just purchased a custom-made case from Blue Heron.  Despite the fact that it's a custom case, they charged no more for it than for one of their standard cases.  It seems to be very well-made and good-looking.  http://www.blueheroncases.com

Thanks, DennisG; those are indeed great looking cases but unfortunately they are soft cases.  My jumbo soft case is similar and the GO fits inside without trouble.  What I am looking for is one of the `semi-hard` cases - they are essentially a softcase with a rigid styrofoam frame inside, which is guitar body shape-specific.  The J-200 jumbo semi-hard cases here don`t fit the GO because of the discrepancies in bout width.  So I was wondering if anyone has found a vendor making a semi-hard case that fits the GO.  Taylor makes their own semi-hard cases, but only for GA and dreadnaught shapes, from what I can find . . .
