Title: What's a HOG?

OK I have seen this referred to many times, what the heck is a HOG!  ???  I have seen it used alongside a GS Mini (which I own).

Perhaps the monosyllable is used because muhogony, mahogony, mahagany, mohogony, is too hard to spell correctlyl?
