Brand new to forum. These are mainly for my wife (she is the Worship Minister and leads with guitar), but I am learning and get to play them (moved to these from a Japanese Takamine Supernatural and Breedlove Pro Series). I must say that we love the GO! Had to get 2 so we could take advantage of the First Editions! I have been running sound for about ten years, and these are exceptional on stage! To me, the 618e looks better, and she likes the 718e. We both prefer the Rosewood sound of the 718e.. They are both awesome though.. The 718e is 62 of 100 and the 618e is 85 of 100. We got the 718e on Wednesday, and the 618e about 3 weeks ago.

Welcome to the forum! Those are both beautiful guitars!
-
Beautiful pair. Welcome an Congrats!
I'm enjoying my 618e FE. Records nicely.
-
Welcome. You have two absolutely beautiful Taylors!
-
Welcome to the forum. Love the 3 piece maple back-- have one on my 614 as well.
-
Welcome to the forum johnandaja. Good choice. The maple has a nice 3 piece back, I like it. My tonal preference leans towards the 718, but maybe the 618 sounds better on the
PA. Play them in good health.

the two together should sound fantastic ! lucky you ! the two woods work off each other very well. i love maple and mohogany or ebony. i've yet to get a rosewood...maybe the new 816ce....sigh.

Man, you don't waste any time in building that Taylor stable, do you?...lol!

Hi johnandaja. Welcome to the UTGF. I'm allergic to maple, it makes me drool. ;)
-
Congratulations and Welcome!!
The GO's are fantastic guitars....no question!
I own a 518e FE and 618e FE.
I love them both...but usually prefer my 518 for strumming and 618 for fingerstyle.
That said, exceptions are made many times.....both great guitars!! :)

THanks for all the comments! :) So I changed the strings last night on the 618, and now I can't really say which of the 2 I like better. I will say I love the volume of the 618e. What impressed me the most about the GO is the way it responds. I was digging in last night and my kids were dancing and singing, then once they were asleep, I could lightly play but still get amazing sound! I have been guitar store hopping for the last year, picking up every guitar I can, and IMHO the GO is the best all around guitar I've ever played. The reason we decided to take the jump on 2 is because I found and played a 618e and 818e (non first edition) and the difference was very noticable to me and my wife. Not sure if it the ADI bracing or AA woods or both, but it was worth it to get the FE. I will say the Non FE still sounded great (not bashing, just saying!). John Here are some more picks!

BTW I tried Elixir PB strings when I changed the strings (based on Taylor moving to them), and I didn't care for the sound at all. So much so, I removed them and put back on some 80/20's.

i find that my 2 maple taylors prefer D'addario EXP16's for the GA and EXP17's for the GS. but strings are a very subjective thing.

Welcome to the forum. I absolutely love the figuring of the EIR back! As far as new things making old things obsolete, well I'm not trading my GS8e for any of these newer models for sure. That's not to say that I wouldn't like the new 800 series. I think what the Power company has done is tremendous. I've just grown to know my guitar and she sounds better to my ears all the time. New friends are great, but old friends are irreplaceable. Strum On!! 8)
