Title: Burst tops
Post by: StratsRock on December 08, 2012, 03:41:52 PM
Has Taylor, or does Taylor on occasion, offer a burst top on their BBT, 110* or 210* models?

I've seen 214's with the burst top. Not sure if it's applicable across all body shapes for the 200 series.

I believe Taylor only offers the sunburst on the 214.

However, a forum member here recently took the Taylor tour and snapped a photo of what looked like a limited run of USA-made 110 models with sunburst top.

The TSB finished 214ce is a nice looking guitar. I would have paid extra for the TSB finish had it been available for my 314ce.  8)

Hi Gary,

Wow, what timing.  The Taylor F&F had a bunch of 210s in burst!
I asked a rep about them and he said they came back unsold from Japan finished for their market ...won't ever see them here.  I played one and it was a nice 210 ...and (cough cough) for not a lot of dough.  Too bad you didn't ask before the show I could've picked one up for ya...   If you're serious about one give the factory a call and ask them where they sent em if there are any left (to my recollection, there was a laaarge stack of unopened guits, all same finish (I know, because I was looking for a non burst they were so inexpensive ;) ).

I called the Taylor 800 number. They're already gone. Darn!

Any honey bursts?
dmccrider shared a pic of a rack of guitars during a factory tour (there was a 214ce LTD koa being finished there too)

looks like a 110 honeyburst to me (black binding, satin finish), along with a 110e & 114e's

I also saw that in the tour post. I'm anxiously awaiting to see if those 110's get released for retail. Maybe at NAMM?
