My nicest guitar is not my 914, but a custom McKnight. Tim uses a tonerite on all his new guitars to help them "settle in" before they leave his shop. He thinks it helps for this purpose. I've never asked him about using one later. Mine gets played so much that I doubt it would make much difference.
