I know there are many people around here that wish our first guitars would have played as nice as a Taylor. I had some piece of junk with action so high you could drive a truck under it.

That made me literally LOL. My first was like that too - the truck probably would have belonged to UPS.

there's always slide, wall-art or one's first attempt at a neck reset/bolt-on neck conversion -
i'd like to think that no matter how bad something is, there is something good in it somewhere :)

I thought the burst finish on my guitar was near the top. That was before I saw your 614. You have what I think is the best finish I have seen to date.

Excellent! It will bring you a lot of pleasure in the years to come. Think about investing in a few lessons to get you started on the right path.

So, I give up: exactly which model is that? I at least can see the maple figuring on the back, and that it is a CE, but that's as far as I can go in identifying it.

It is a real beauty and I congratulate you for your choice, and for having the wisdom to start your musical life with a good instrument. I'm one who, like many, started with a truly lousy instrument (a Sears Silvertone---its almost embarrassing to say it) many years ago, and then "saw the light" after 6 mos. or a year......but that's another story!

I did have a couple real nice guitars before my first Taylor, but Taylor started only 1 year after I started playing. Hope you enjoy your new Taylor. Be sure to take good care of it.
