Title: New Taylor BTO wood combo for James Taylor like tone
Post by: miksel on March 06, 2012, 09:43:33 PM
Before anybody pelts me with stones; i realize only JT can sound like JT but ; IF you are having a BTO Taylor built looking for a finger style guitar in that neighborhood what specs would you use? I was thinking GA body;EIR back, sides;Cedar top,Adi bracing; 1 3/4 nut. I welcome any suggestions as i have been familiar with JT's guitars nay since i began learning to play 4 yrs ago and he was playing Olsons. I know he also played a Gibson J-50 back in the day. What say ye?  Thanks,M.S.

James has his own special, unique, unduplicatable bone-tone ...  8)

Get some guitars just like his, get all his albums, practice with them for many years and you'll sound like you only better ...  :o

Seriously, I've learned a lot from JT over the years (not personally mind you) ... you can hear his influence in many places ...

I think you are close on the description of a Taylor that would match.

Given Mr. Olson is no longer around, I wonder where JT is going to turn for new instruments. He probably has quite a few already.

My brother forwarded me the link to this little snippet. Interesting to see the obvious love JT has for his collection.

I didn't realize Jim Olson is no longer around.  Where did he go?

Was conversing with my brother last night and he told me Jim passed away. Third hand at this point but my brother is not one to start rumors.

If true the guitar world lost a great one.  I am hoping it is just a rumor.
