Got to play Rippy's in Nashville Friday night and then got asked to audition at Tootsie's today for a gig in a new bar opening in Nashville and the craziest thing happened!! The wife agreed that I needed to get me an acoustic/electric guitar since the 810 is just a straight acoustic. So we traipsed right on down to Gruhn guitars today and I walked out with a new 614ce!!! Pics to follow real soon!! Really love the guitar and pretty excited to have a new Taylor!!!

Way to go!!! Congrats on the new addition to the family. Cigars are in order, right? :D

Loving the 614!!!! Plugged it in on the Acoustasonic 150 tonight and it just sounds AWESOME! It is such a different sound than the 810. I am glad I went with a different bodystyle instead of getting another dread! Like the tone of it and really digging the looks! Gonna try to get some pics on tomorrow.

Can't wait to see the maple on your 614. You mention the difference in tone from the dred. Can you describe what you are hearing when you compare the two? The Grand Symphony (correct?) is a good bit smaller than the dred. I'm looking to get a smaller body (a GC probably) as well and just wondering your immediate impressions are between the two.

I haven't been playing the guitar that long but I will try to explain the difference in the 810 and the 614 tonewise to me. The dread is just a lot deeper in tone and louder and I believe the rosewood has something to do with this as well, where the auditorium and the maple has a punchier, brighter tone to it. They both speak english they just have a different dialect is all!! Here are a few pics of my new baby! Apologize for the poor quality but hope you enjoy!!

congrats on the 614ce, tnfiddler :)
at first i thought the pics you would be sharing might
have been the 'non-blonde' version of this model ;)

i'm happy that the 614ce you found spoke to you -
the combination of body shapes, woods, bracing patterns &
string gauges will complement the 6 & 8 well, & the T5 too :D
thanks for sharing the pics & your NGD
have fun ;D

Thanks, if the guitar had been the more white-colored wood, I wouldn't have been interested at all. I like the color of this one a lot and that stain with the finish really pops in my opinion!! I am loving it!!

Wow. That's a beauty. Congrats.

I played one of these recently in a store....a new one......and really liked it a lot. You made a great choice. I eventually went with a grand concert model for various reasons.
By the way, what do you think of the Fender Acoustasonic amp?

Thanks!! I really like the look and the sound of it a LOT!! I am a big fan of the Acoustasonic amp! I have to run my fiddle through a pre-amp to get the sound I want out of it but the T5 on the blackface rocks. I am running the 614 on the second channel and I am running the bass and treble on neutral and using the controls on the guitar to fine-tune the tone.

Very nice! I like that rich golden color. Congrats and enjoy!
