Just got a new GT Koa and for some reason the frets seem high, anyone else have this issue? It’s slightly annoying whenever you slide between notes. Looking forward to your comments.

Would a crowning help take the edge off the frets? Never had a issue like this on any of my other Taylor’s

Does the guitar play clean notes up the neck? Nothing untoward, buzzing, or fretting out? If nothing is "wrong" then I'd say the guit is fine. So when you say the frets seem "high," are you referring to all the frets seeming taller than your other Taylors?

Hi Edward, Notes are fine, it just felt like the leading edge of the frets had no slope to them, and my finger tips were getting hung up on the slide into the next note. I don’t seem to notice it all that much now that I’ve put a few hours into playing it. It has an incredible tone, and I play it plugged in most of the time. Perhaps I was looking for something wrong with it, if you know what I mean, but honestly I’m pretty impressed with it, nut width is slightly smaller than the 1 3/4 “ I’m familiar with, but overall enough nice things about this guitar puts you in a happy place!

Yeah, so probably an acclimation process is all. Every guitar has a slightly different feel to it, like its very own personality, let alone a GT that has a slightly different scale length and nut width compared to other Taylors. Perhaps your GT "wants" a lighter touch is all. Play each one enough and we subconsciously conform to their own little variances and whatnot; it's part of how one "bonds" to an instrument. Glad you're diggin it ...enjoy the beauty in good health!! :D

You got a new guitar - congratulations. Once it has settled in to its new environment, and you have made sure the humidity is at a proper level, take it to your tech/repair/luthier person and get a full set up with your preferred strings. I've never seen anyone do a fret dressing for frets that they felt were too tall. Checking out fret height prior to purchase is just one of many specifications many people look at. Fret profile is not just a concern for electric guitars.

They have the same fret height as any other Taylor model. I think you’re just adjusting to the guitar and assigning the difference in the way you’re playing it to a part of the guitar instead of the player. Remember, this is a much shorter scale guitar designed for slinkier feel.
