I have been intrigued by the sound hole cutaway since it came out and finally got to play one. Also, this is my first experience with a Mahogany top as well as the mahogany-like Urban Ash back and sides. They provide a warmth that I have not experienced. It’s a different sound for me and I am really enjoying it
I know the aesthetics of the sound-hole cutaway bothers some, but not me . As far as the sound that it contributes, it is not all that evident from the players position , but I really do think it provides a little sumpin’ sumpin’ for those out in front of the sound holes
The kicker for me … what helped me pull the trigger … was that I had the opportunity to purchase a Taylor prototype guitar and because it was a prototype, it came with an extra special Urban Ash back.
I am enjoying the heck out of this one .

Beautiful Guitar Cowboy!!! Love that grain on the back!!
Congratulations!!!!

Wow, that back is amazing. The front is a nice mahogany too. It's cool when you can get a new Taylor that gives that unique sound. Shaded edgeburst is a big bonus....have always loved it. Enjoy your new addition!

Congrats on a great find - beautiful aesthetics. I'm encouraged by your review of the tonal properties. After playing a 324 BE (same wood combo), I've just ordered one for myself! I agree that it has a special tone. Enjoy your new baby!

Beautiful guitar! I'm curious what you think about the additional upper fret access from the soundhole cutaway? Is it almost like a normal cutaway?

Thanks . Well , I’d say due to the bevel it doesn’t provide quite the access as a regular cutaway. But it is pretty good up to about the 16 or 17th fret
