I live in a university town about 100 miles east of Raleigh. I see three dealers in Raleigh itself, but their websites don't show a lot of guitars actually in stock. I understand why, but is there another dealer in this part of the US that I should be looking? I'm looking for something in the 300 series, I believe.

About 400 miles, but this place is awesome. Or get in touch, I'm sure they ship.

Sam Ash Music and Guitar Center are side-by-side in Richmond. Between the two, they usually have a decent selection.

Regardless of where you go, I would call ahead to see what they have available. Here are a couple of places that may not be too far away:
Casino Guitars in Southern Pines, NC
Fret Mill Music in Roanoke, VA
Both of these places are large stocking Taylor dealers. If you are willing to go to Northern Virginia, a trip around the DC Beltway to the Maryland side, and Chuck Levin's Washington Music in Wheaton, MD is an experience - they are a general music megastore. I was there last week, and they did have a decent array of Taylors available.

Thank you for all of these suggestions. I've lived here for nearly twenty years, but still have much to learn.

Harry's Guitar Shop in Raleigh had all the Taylors I wanted to try and comfortable showrooms to play them in. Thank you, Harry and Scott.

If you are in the Yorktown VA area, I suggest Winter Sound Music Store. They are located right on highway 17 in Gloucester Point VA. I bought my Taylor 614ce L30 there. I still have the guitar. It's playing great and I'm still loving it. See details on their web site at: http://www.wintersound.com. They've also got a good page on FaceBook.
