Title: What's a Great Source Online for Lead Sheets?
Post by: Go Navy on February 09, 2012, 12:28:23 AM
What's a great source, online, to buy, download, and print lead sheets?  Not looking for tabs, but melody lines, lyrics, and chord symbols.

I like musicnotes.com

They usually have several arrangements depending on your needs and many of the pieces are transposable.  Easy to purchase and download to print.

Try Chordie. It allows you to create a playlist where you can save the music you want to keep reference to. There is a good variety of music and it is very easy to srt through and find what you are looking for by song title or artist. And you can print anything you want to. In my limited experience with it, it seems to be a pretty good source.

Not exactly what you are looking for but I have an app on my IPad called Songster that has very high quality tabs with time signatures, measures and lyrics. Each song is preceded by a BPM number.

The app plays the song using a variety of synthesized sounds (you pick), while one of those moving bars carries you through the piece.

There are hundreds of songs on this app in a searchable data base. I think that the total cost was under $10.

+1 on Music Notes for lead sheets per se.

I use Guitar Pro and this site http://www.theguitarlesson.com/guitar-pro-tabs/ has plenty of songs to go with it.  It does cost for the guitar pro software but all of the songs are free.

Just a heads up, I paid the $X to download the full database and the link I received takes me to an empty zip file. I sent him an e-mail and I am hoping it is just a glitch. I will follow up and let you know how I make out.
