I just worked up the courage to tke mine off yesterday (mini-e RW), it came off pretty easy. A little heat and some fishing line, came right off.  Mine was a few months old, there is a very faint shadow line, but it should go away (I think), in a little while.  I like the looks of the guitar much better without the pg.

Received and install the new black pick guard on my mini spruce top today.  As you can see by the photo, after only 9 or 10 months of ownership and kept primarily in my house next to my desk, there was quite a bit it color change to the original top.   I like the new look!

Looks really sharp, Geez. Glad I was able to point out that they were available. I have a spruce top GS Mini too. I'm still on the fence as to what I'm going to do. Still GAS'ing over a hog mini w/o a pickguard. So, I will have to make a trip to the music store and make a decision. If I keep the spruce mini, I think I'm going to go this route and swap out the tortoise pg for the black one.

I was quite surprised that it only took 2 1/2 days to get here once I ordered it (I'm just outside the St Louis, MO area). Installation was a snap with the "hair dryer/detail floss" trick.

Removal/installation was really easy. Patience is key. Residue cleanup was easy too. A little bit of WD-40 on my fingertips and it rolled right off. Looks really cool. Results below...

BTS, very nice! I like these black pickguards if one chooses to have a pickguard.

The black pick guard does look good on these GS Mini's.  It gives them a little different look, I still prefer the tortoise shell look best.  I have had Martins with black pg. and it looked fine. I have and have had guitars with out any pg. they look fine too, but I am still a fan of the original Taylor look.

Finished the rest of my current round of upgrades to my mini. Black pickguard, Gotoh 510 minis (aged gold), ebony pins with MOP inlay. Working on a custom TRC from Nichols, but I'm taking my time with that. I love it even more!

I am way late to the game, about nine years. 2023, and I got my first GS mini.  I was searching to see why Taylor changed the tortoise pickguard to a black one on the stock GS-Mini. I’m thinking it’s because lots of people had the same sentiment and prefer the black.
