Thanks for having me! I bought my 1st Taylor, an 812, in the late 1980s, I think. I kept it for a long time but it never was quite right for me. After a lot of exploring I now have 4 precious Taylors (I suffer from guitar acquisition syndrome) - 816ce (with sound port cutaway), 811e, K22 (no cutaway), GT urban ash. I also have a Martin 0018. I love the rich sound of an acoustic guitar. I love the Taylor sound and build - they are beautiful. I love their business ethics. I am retiring soon and am looking forward to more time to play. I am reading some books that are enriching my guitar journey: Zen Guitar and The Music Lesson - A Spiritual Search for Growth Through Music. Playing guitar can bring me to a special space. Playing is wonderful. I also like to play and sing.

Andy_E,
The Welcome wagon makes another belated stop. Hop aboard.
I am currently retired septuagenarian, working part-time, and recommend keeping busy in retirement. Gives you wings without any side effects. Of course that means adding to your guitar time too.
I have a short-scale descendent of your ex 812, a 412e-R, and really love it. Keeps me going when my fretting hand gets sore. An 811 is on my potential g.a.s. list, but not in my bank account yet.
Be well,
Don
