Hi from SD
« on: May 09, 2017, 04:28:49 PM »
Hi All.  Another acoustic guitar affectionado from Sun Diego.  I have this 12 string but can't find any serial number/model number on it.  Any ideas?

Welcome. As close as you are to Taylor, have you taken it there to get information on it?

Have you looked inside, up on the neck block? If a label is not there, then by all means, Taylor Guitars should be your next stop. Mind showing us the back and sides?

Thanks for the welcomes.    Yea SD is hard to beat.   Though it's getting crowded and housing is pretttyy high.    Here are some more amatuer pics of the guitar.

Welcome!  From your latest photos, I'd venture the guess it's an older 555.  It definitely looks like a Jumbo body to me; the wood on the back/sides is either Sapele or Mahogany, and with the gloss finish I'm going to go with the latter.  So probably a 555.

Serial number is going to be on the label.  As suggested by "cotten," the label on older Taylors was tucked up inside the body, where the base of the neck joins it.  If it's missing, I'm not sure how that can be rectified, or whether Taylor can help to identify it in some other way so they can supply a replacement label.

Thanks for info!  I probably just can't see the number up there because of the pickup.

Looks like this one:  http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=435683

Think I can get $xx for it?

Sorry to break the rules and mention value.   I found the serial by moving the pickup.  It was made in 1989.
