Hey all! Just saying hello.
I got my first Taylor about ten years ago when my wife bought me the perfect 'living room guitar', the Big Baby. Its incredible how much sound those things are capable of, really. They are brilliant little guitars.
Eons ago when I was in college I remember picking one up and being blown away at how good they sounded for the size and cost. Years later, I was unlucky enough to land a job at West LA music in.... well Los Angeles and the rest of the Taylor collection grabbed my attention - specifically the 614 CE. I had never heard an acoustic sound like that and im sure you all know what Im talking about when you pick up a truly magical acoustic.
Anyways, a few weeks ago I found a 712 (rosewood/spruce) on CL from 1991 and the price had come down a few times and I just happened to have enough cash on hand to bring it home. It must have been sitting for 30 years as its dammed near flawless.
At first I was not blown away but I have to say after restringing it and playing it a bit, this thing is really starting to grow on me. It's so easy to play and its very precise - but it doesnt pop like that 614.
So for now Im holding onto the 712 while keeping an eye out for a 614
Anyways - hi!
cheers
