Nice looking guitar, non astronomical price point for an instrument with that bevel and Gotoh tuners considering where we're at these days. Not sure about the satin finish, haven't seen a satin Taylor in the wild.

May they sell a slew of them.

That's a serious response from the mothership ...never read that before.  Who knows how much of it is about "tone" or "performance" as I have grown skeptical of "ad copy" responses.  That said, if it's an economic decision that makes sense, more power to em!

I tend to agree with you, Edward.  "Ad copy" responses are way too suspect, especially coming from Taylor these days.  I also don't necessarily replace tires on my car based on the OEM brand either.  I KNOW that they were chosen because of the bid price, not performance or long life.

It may be as simple as the bulk price being $1 less per set than Elixirs.  That would add up when building 160,000 guitars per year, but is still small potatoes compared to so many other factors.  I'm still a big fan of Elixir strings, and use D'Addario uncoated EJ's mostly otherwise -- on all of my guitars.  One of these days I may try their new coated XS strings, having heard some good things from friends, but my string box runneth over at the moment.

Fwiw, I like D'Addario as a company, and have used their electric strings for decades as they sound good and perform well.  And particularly, their 3 and 10 packs are great deals that make good strings even better.  But I stick with Elixir PBs for acoustic use because they work well and laaaast; and they sound good to the last drop of their life which is critical to me (no sense in having longevity if the tone degrades!).  They also have a medium-light set which works great on GC and GA bodies, so that's a gauge I live by.

Like many things with instruments, strings are highly subjective and have everything to do with personal preferences.  Having so many choices these days really makes it great.  Rock on, all! :)
