Title: 12-Fret Question (Taylor Discontinued them?)
Post by: Scriptor on February 13, 2013, 10:25:22 AM
OK, so my next Taylor is likely to be a 12-fretter ... Sitka/Rosewood with cutaway and ES ...

I really don't care much for the slotted headstock ... however, I would not want to pay extra to "modify a model" just to get a solid headstock ... any thoughts?

Also, I am assuming the 12-frets have become part the regular Taylor lineup now, right? (edit: looks like from the Taylor website that all have been discontinued except the 2012 Fall LTD)     Dealers, what's the current scoop?

Thanks.

P.S.  I favor Taylor's (and of course this is the UTGF) but are there any other 12-fret guitars that should be considered?

I don't believe there's an upcharge to forego the slotted headstock.

I think that they still offer them, but they are now a option instead of called out specifically as their own series.
    http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars/acoustic/812ce
select 'View All 812ce options' and you will see
12-fret version (Grand Concert models only)$200
this is listed on at least the 812,712,612,512 pages.

based on this it seems like their are more options available for 12 fret guitars, but not sure how this affects availability and what options are really there.
