I've tried numerous picks and currently I prefer http://zagerguitar.com/guitars/zager-flex-pick/
They have 3 tips to play on, don't slip from my grip and attach to the tuning pegs so as not to get lost. I get them from Walmart.com really cheap.

Speaking of Zagar, has anyone here tried their guitars?

Well I went to zagar.com and bought picks. I don't play with a pick usually but I do collect them, we will see what I think. btw, couldn't find them on the Wally Mart website. Got a fair price from Zagar on a lot of 20. One for all my guitars. I like the clip to the post thing.

My current favorite acoustic pick is a Dunlop PrimeTone in .73 (model 510P.73) or .88 (model 510P.88) millimeter thickness.  The .88 sounds almost the same as if I play fingerstyle.  The .73 sounds brighter.  They showcase the way the strings and guitar sound, without all the string attack noises, thanks to polished edges and good choice of plastic. They are pretty stiff, and therefore give you the ability to choose how to attack the strings.  I prefer the style with the grippy center.  They cost about 5 bucks for a pack of 3.

I tried Blue Chips recently....I like em but I'm not throwing away my GG's just yet....I concur with most of the sentiments about thicker picks.....no slap...fuller tone....speedier attack etc.....

Hokay, as many of my post start off - It comes down to personal preference. Go with what you like. There are all sorts of pick types out there and yes, they all influence the sound. Bottom line is what you like feel and sound wise is what you should use. For what it's worth, Tommy Carter of Jimmie Vaughan's Dallas band the Chessmen uses a quarter to play bass. He described the serrated edge of the coin as producing a delightful scratchiness as he scrubbed the strings. Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top is known for occasionally using a Mexican peso as a pick to get the sound he wants. I have seen wooden, felt, stone, plastic, aluminum and other materials used for picks. Good luck.

I love the Golden Gate picks for mandolin,I have the three sided with rounded points.  I have used fender celluloid mediums since my electric days and have never changed.  Costs 5.99 for a dozen about 2 years ago.

About ten years ago I came across a sample pack of 10 bright orange Wedgies in .50mm. Delrin, with a molded indentation for your thumb.

It's the one pick that I can use across the board (except for electric bass).  I play a mix of acoustic and electric 12string onstage and have just added my T5z to the show. Plus I have a vintage Gretsch and a Fender FJ from the late 1970s, For all of them, the Wedgies have enough flex to be fast, clear and and long-lasting.  After a decade, I am down to two from the original dozen.  They don't break, near as I can tell.

Hopefully, I can find me some more at my local store. Twenty should hold me for however long I can keep playing.
