Hi Tim,
As you know I travel a lot. I have settled on a carbon fiber guitar for robustness and temperature/humidity indifference. My Rainsong Shorty weighs less than my mini and I don't worry (too much) about checking it in the soft case I bought for it. It plays close to my Taylors (shaved the saddle a bit) and although the sound is different it is still very nice. It also has 1 3/4 nut width with I think 25.5 inch scale length. While I am not giving up my Taylors I don't miss them quite as much when I am gone. Just a thought.
Thanks, Dave! That's definitely something to consider!
As there's still a chance my next job will have me on the road again (hmm, someone should set that to music...) my brother suggested a simple 100- or 200-Series Taylor (110/210 or 114/214). They're relatively inexpensive without the ES or cutaway (although I do like to have a cutaway...) -- and a used one would be even
less expensive... I'll have to do some thinking...!
