Yes, had seen that. I don't think I'll perform such tests myself. I can think of some harsher scenerios.   :o

Yea, I don't think I am planning to put my 714ce through that testing...  But am really liking the case for toting around town.

To TaylorGirl,
FYI, I have edited my original version of this post below for accuracy!

The Grand Auditorium Aerocase had been verified to weigh 9 lbs by a fellow Taylor owner who just received a new one and weighed it.
I just weighed my genuine Taylor Grand Auditorium Hardshell Case, and it was roughly 10.2lbs empty.

To quote exactly from the Taylor website the description of the Aerocase: "...its material construction is less than one-third the weight of a hard case."
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Taylor. I love their guitars (I own two of them) and I actually own the GS Mini Aerocase. The GSM Aerocase is approx. 8 lbs. as you stated. The larger GA Aerocase weighs 9 lbs. But Taylor's statement on their website regarding the weight of the Aerocase being one third the weight of the Hard Case is absolutely NOT TRUE! Perhaps they originally meant to say the Aerocase was one-third LESS weight than their Hardshell Case. But even that would have been an exaggeration. The Aerocase is a really beautiful and rugged case, but it is also quite heavy. Taylor's website is misleading and should be corrected.

I've got an Aerocase for my Grand Concerts.  I like it well enough, it's a good piece of kit.  It's the case I grab if I take a GC to a lesson.  However, for a recent cross country road trip I chose to use a regular hard case.  The Aerocase is nearly heavy as the regular case and takes up more space if that's a consideration. If I only had one case for a guitar it would be the standard hard case.

I asked Taylor and they say humidity control is easier with aero case because you don’t have to also control humidity of the plywood of the case

Other than a crush damage I find the aero case more than adequate protection. Also has the benefit of not scratching floors or walls moving the case about. I find the pocket very handy for carrying music

I'm not quite sure that I believe that comment.  The zipper on any gig-type case is a huge porous leak for moisture.  When I have used devices in the case to help maintain humidity, they last only about one-third as long in the Taylor Hard Bag versus the regular case.  The plywood shell is a reservoir for moisture (along with the padding and fur) and needs to be properly saturated first, but air leakage seems more important.

Having said that, my guitars leave the house almost 100% in a Taylor Hard Bag, now replaced by the Aero Case.  It is hard to remember the last time that a wooden hard case went out for a jam -- maybe when I was selling something and expected it not to come back.  I've not seen an Aero Case in person yet.

Agreed. I'm preferring the Aero Case (and equivalent soft/hard cases with other instruments types) to the hardshell cases. As far as humidity, we do whole-home humidity control, rather than in case.

I just received a new Aero GA case. Weighs just about 9 lbs.  very sturdy!  Seems well made.

Also, I can fit a GS in my GA Aero.  But Not my LKSM 12, which will just squeeze into my Mono Vertigo Dread hard bag.

Hope this helps someone

I was barely able to squeeze a GS into the regular GA/DN Hard Bag, but it put a lot of stress on the zipper -- it barely closed and I was not confident it would last long.  No experience with the Aero Case though.

Me too. I found my Aero a bit larger than my few regular Taylor hard bags.

YMMV, of course
