Lindsay Buckingham, Taylor sighting
« on: March 08, 2015, 06:28:19 PM »
OK, maybe this is second hand news, but fun to see Linsday Buckingham play a Taylor last night. Went to see Fleetwood Mac and really enjoyed it!

Lindsay played this for Landslide and one other song. I know he plays 814's, but this might have been a custom. Cedar top and when he held it up at the end it flipped around and revealed a huge wedge back. Kinda of looked like two big wedges of rosewood and maybe the middle wedge was something with the color of tasmanian blackwood, not sure! In the photos it doesn't exactly look like cedar on the top because of the lighting, but it really did live.

The third picture sure looks like cedar. Nice to see these legendary artists with Taylors.

I'm wondering if it's a 714 LTD.

That must be a recent newbie for him. And your right guitarsan... He does use 814ce's with Fishman preamp's. There's a youtube vid of his gear from 2012 and they show 4 Taylors tuned for different songs. Including one in drop "D" and capoed at the 3rd fret for Never Going Back. Tho I have seen him using a Martin also.

Yeah, I know he owns a 1969 Martin D-18 that he purchased in his teens and has recorded a lot with it. He seems to favor Turner thin line guitars mostly these days.

OK, by sheer luck and coincidence, I've identified the guitar.

It's highly likely this is a 1999/2000 814 BCE - Brazilian Rosewood.

Remember I commented on highly figured wedges in the back? And not cedar, but just like this, an aged spruce top. Mystery solved!
