Do any of you subscribe to Premier Guitar magazine? I signed up for the electronic version (free) quite a while ago and it looks like a really great magazine. The on-line version has good lessons (at least as far as I can tell), and the rest of the magazine seems to have pretty decent content. I'm thinking about subscribing to the printed magazine. What do you think? Worth it ot forget about it?

The content is almost all aimed at electrics. Not really my thing, but I can see how other people would like it.

As DennisG said, Premier Guitar is primarily focused on electrics and their
accessories. I've read a few editions and sorting through the advertising
to find readable content can be frustrating. There are a L O T of ads in
that mag. I have not seen the online version, however.

Good feedback. I noticed that most of what they are doing is with electrics, at least in the lessons, but I think that some of the excercise are applicable to the acoustic guitar as well. I'm glad to get yout feedback because it gives me some hesitation to spendin $25 and not be satisfied - especially when I can get some of what I want with the on-line version.

If you're going to subscribe to any guitar periodical, you have to check out The Fretboard Journal. It's very different than a magazine than Premier Guitar, since it isn't really instructional or even that promotional, but it is magnificent in covering guitars, gear, and the people who make/play them.

I think Fretboard Journal is an excellent publication, but if my budget allowed for only one subscription, it would be to Acoustic Guitar. Lots of very good instruction, tabs, and all devoted to acoustics.

I've subscribed to Premier Guitar Magazine for 7 or 8 years now. This publication is very gear focussed (as opposed to Guitar World and Guitar Player) and yes mostly electric guitars, amps, and effects. The acoustic content can be pretty sparse.
It has a "vintage" angle as well which is where it's roots are. I can't remember right now what it was called before "Premier Guitar" but back then it was really "Vintage" focused. Only recently in the last few years have they added all of the columns and lessons and such.
I also subscribe to "Vintage Guitar" magazine and have enjoyed it for 12 years or so.

I enjoyed Fingerstyle Guitar while it lasted. It was a good magazine until it went under.
I like Fretboard Journal for interesting journalistic articles about acoustic instruments, luthiers and musicians, in an "organic" style that could be aimed at music lovers as much as musicians.
However, (IMO) "Flatpicking Guitar" and "Just Jazz Guitar" are probably the best instructional magazines out there right now for advanced to intermediate players in these genres. Both include interesting journalistic articles with excellent instruction.
I have also enjoyed Acoustic Guitar which has instructional articles that range from beginner to intermediate and is a nice infomercial type mag, but it is a lightweight next to the other two.
