Title: Yes, another humidity question
Post by: Taylor224 on December 19, 2019, 12:52:31 AM
I trolled older posts hoping to find an answer.  As dumb as this sounds, I have a sound hole humidifier (Music Nomad) in the 214 (work guitar) damping nightly.  I also have 3 Humidipaks, 1 under the headstock, and the double pouch by the neck.   RH is stuck at 45.  Not bad, I was hoping for 50-55.  Is it possible the Humidipaks are “borrowing” from the Nomad sponge, kinda cancelling each other out so to speak.

Yes, it is possible. Humidipaks (or the equivalent Boveda?)can be purchased in different RH amounts, yours could be 45? I have extended the life of packs in the past by using an oasis soundhole humidifier, either not depleting the humidipak as quickly or maybe actually recharging a little bit.
In any case, a 214 will be quite happy with 45%, and just keeping it humidified to any consistent level(in the safe range) will allow for a setup that works wherever the woods will settle at that level.
Now I look back on my late teens and 20’s and wonder how my guitars survived with no humidifiers in Maine, but they did.
I bet that 214 is bringing great joy to you and your coworkers, what a great idea.
