« on: February 08, 2017, 05:59:51 PM »
I would like to find a 514c  , spruce  top 12 fret.  I really like the look of the Wildwood 514 12fret LTDs

Outside of the Limiteds you saw, it would have to be a custom shop order. They don't make a standard model 14 size series in a 12 Fret, unfortunately. (They should though, it's a fantastic combination!)

Agree with davwir. I bought a custom 12-fret GA in Koa and it was the first one I had ever seen. Love the playability. Good luck.

In 2011 they offered a Cedar/Macassar Ebony 12-fret GA Limited (very limited, like 40 pieces). I bought one then and LOVED it immediately. I later built two additional Customs as 12 Fret GAs as well (Redwood/Figured Rosewood and Englemann/Quilted Maple), and think this is a perfect configuration. Not sure why it's not offered in the standard line, doesn't seem to require any additional tooling.

I was stoked that my GA 12-fret did not come with the slotted headstock.

Would love to see pics of your redwood model.

I am a sucker for a 12 fret cutaway. They just sound better than a similar 14 fret, every time.

Best on your quest

Cheers

I saw some pic's of a  Wildwood Guitars 12 fret GA with a  spruce top,  very understated,  can't find them now. I thought they were on this forum. Anyone see them, or have one? I may have to go the BTO route.

Haven't been around here for a while, but I just posted on AGF the other day about this very gap in the Taylor standard line. All those recent twelve fret models and no GAs. Or GSs. Maybe we could get a batch made! I'd be interested in a Hog, RW or Maple flavor ... and maybe Koa.

I have been looking into a BTO , I think they are affordable, but it its pretty hard to invest that much in a guitar you have not played.  I would like a strip down mahogany B/S , sitka top, adie braces ( in the hope for added head room)

I think that BTO is going to be your only hope of a 514ce 12th fret.  They are not something Taylor produces.
I had an 814ce 12th fret, I felt it was not balanced, I am not talking about tonal balance but physical balance.
The GC models do much better in that regard.
