I sold my hard case a while back (stupid, I know) because I wasn't using it.  Now I'm thinking the padded gig bag I use isnt providing the right humidity for the guitar.  I don't want the top cracking.  So now I need a case.  Only one I could find on Amazon is $200.  I'm mostly buying it to keep it humidified in the winter.  do I even need one?

Gator and SKB are the usual suspects: decent quality and cheaper than a factory case.

I sometimes suggest putting the gig bag inside a large contractor-type garbage bag or dry cleaning bag, which helps contain the humidity.  With most gig bags, the zipper represents a large porous area, but the padding itself is mostly a barrier to moisture.  Humidifying devices in my gig bags need to be refilled about 2-3 times as often as the same ones in hard cases.

My experience has also been that GA's fit into any dreadnought case.  If there is a little extra room at the narrower waist, no problem.
Taylors:  424-LTD (all koa) and a 114ce that lives with friends in Alaska.  Low maintenance carbon fiber guitars are my "thing" these days, but I will always keep the koa 424.  Several ukulele and bass guitars too.
*Gone but not forgotten:  a 2001 414ce, 410, 354-LTD twelve string, 314-N, 416-LTD baritone, T5 Classic, 615ce, 2006 GS-K, 1996 (first year) Baby
